Je Suis Le Monde

(2018)

Je Suis Le Monde is a performance of reading newspaper in silence with a gesture of protest.

As the title suggests, the newspaper here is Le Monde published in France. In this performance, the artist portrays himself as a blue-collar worker with a banned mouth, standing in a crowd to display the up-to-date newspaper page by page and mainly showing the most visible picture and headline on a page as if he is demonstrating a manifesto. At the end of the performance, the artist swallows and chews “Le Monde” of the newspaper and spits it out.
